SCREEEECH!
posted by Brian on January 25, 2002 at 10:28 AM

That’s the sound of our ICSI project slamming to a stop. It’s just temporary because of a delay in getting the insurance coverage, so we’re hoping to start a new cycle in a few days when (we hope) we have the insurance thing squared away. We’ll be sure to let you know when we start again.

In other news…

I had a nice trip to NYC last weekend. The conference (Chamber Music America) was really productive in a lot of ways. Of course, at times it felt silly to be in New York sitting in a hotel conference room that could have been anywhere…c’est la vie…

I did get out a couple of times. On Friday night I saw the NY City Ballet in an all Balanchine program. It was really stunning. I’ve always liked watching the Milwaukee Ballet, but, of course, this was a completely different level. Is was as though every note in the music had a movement to go with it, and they were fantastically precise. I just didn’t know that people could do that with their bodies.

On Saturday night I caught the NY Philharmonic. It was also fun, but, to be completely honest, I wasn’t blown away. A guy named Christian Thielemann conducted, and he’s supposed to be the Next Big Thing. But I don’t think the NY Phil players were convinced. I’m not sure they really knew what he was trying to do in Brahms 1. He seemed to be pulling them along rather than leading them. Frankly, I couldn’t understand why the audience went bananas at the end. At least the NY Times reviewer agreed with me.

That’s it for now. Go Patriots…

Wow!!! Really sorry you had to screech to a halt for now. Whose insurance is in question? Hope you get it resolved fast.
