Pictures from Antarctica

posted by David on January 1, 2003 at 07:08 PM

Dad and I are back from Antarctica and I’ve posted my pictures. These are unedited, so don’t be surprised if some of them seem dark or some seem to be there for no real reason. I just wanted to get them up so everyone could see. Over the next week or so, I’ll go in and edit some of my favorites and come up with my personal slide show.

For now, go forth and browse Antarctica. The pictures are arranged by date and location.

Comments

I only skimmed several and can't wait for the commentary. Some of these are pretty amazing and it's clear others point to incredible experiences. I'm sure Kim and Sarah will both be enchanted when they view them.

First quick question - In the Dec 20 set, #26 - is that a penguin hanging out on an iceberg?

Thanks for sharing these!

Yes, that's a penguin, running to the other side of the iceberg to get away from the ship. It was pretty common to see penguins out in the middle of nowhere just hanging out on these little icebergs. They were usually in small groups (10 to 20), though. A solitary one like this was pretty unusual.

Plus how would I write to my family and friends plus there's one thing that I've always wanted to know when your over their what kind of fish is living in the ocean I know antarctica was put there for the ozone layer.I also heard that antarctic is melting and will the ocean really rise and sink miami what will we do after it does.....
